Ohio BMV Partners with Veridos to Deliver Its Most Secure Driver Credentials Yet
Building on a partnership since 2017, Veridos brings advanced credential security, a modernized customer experience, and U.S.-based manufacturing to Ohio's statewide program.
Continuing a Trusted Partnership in Identity
The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) has selected Veridos to continue providing secure driver license and identification credential services for the State of Ohio, extending a successful partnership that began in 2017.
The award reflects Ohio BMV’s continued commitment to secure, reliable, and innovative credentialing—and its confidence in Veridos as a long-term technology and service partner.
Ohio is one of the nation’s largest state credential programs, issuing over three million driver licenses and identification cards annually. Under the new contract, Veridos will support the BMV as it advances to its next generation of highly secure credentials, modernizes credential enrollment and image capture, and continues delivering dependable service to Ohio residents.
Building on a Strong Foundation
Since 2017, Veridos has supported Ohio BMV with secure credential production and technology designed to protect citizen identities while supporting efficient statewide operations. The new program builds upon that foundation while introducing technologies that will help Ohio meet evolving security, operational, and customer-service requirements.
A central component of the next-generation program will be a new 100% polycarbonate credential incorporating advanced security technologies such as Diamond ID and Spectre ID designed to provide strong resistance against counterfeiting, alteration, and identity fraud.
The design process will combine sophisticated physical security features with imagery and visual elements representing the State of Ohio. This approach allows the BMV to establish the credential’s security architecture while maintaining flexibility for State leadership to provide direction on the final appearance of the card.
Improving the Customer Experience
The program also creates an opportunity to modernize the image capture experience.
Our solution will support image capture directly at individual transaction workstations, replacing the traditional model in which customers move to a separate photography station. This streamlined approach is designed to reduce transaction steps, improve employee workflow, and create a more efficient experience for Ohio residents.
Secure U.S.-Based Credential Manufacturing
Veridos will support the Ohio program through its secure U.S. credential manufacturing and production infrastructure. Veridos’ Bolingbrook, Illinois facility provides advanced card-body manufacturing, personalization, quality assurance, and secure production capabilities for government identity programs.
Keeping critical credential manufacturing and production capabilities within the United States strengthens supply-chain resilience, provides greater operational control, and supports the dependable delivery standards required by a statewide driver credential program.
Security, Reliability, and Partnership
Veridos will work closely with Ohio BMV throughout implementation, card design, testing, deployment, and ongoing operations to help ensure a smooth transition to the next generation of Ohio driver licenses and identification cards.
